Kuen Huang

Kuen was called to the Bar in London in 1985. She practised overseas for a few years in the area of commercial law. Kuen was later admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Courts of New South Wales and Victoria, Australia, in 1991 and began her practice in Sydney in one of the then most established law firms in Australia, initially in the banking department and later in property law.

Kuen subsequently joined a financial institution as a legal adviser in its in-house legal department and was later promoted to the position of in-house legal corporate head. The banking and finance experience that Kuen acquired there has greatly benefitted her current practice. She later joined a leading property law firm in Sydney where she significantly expanded her expertise in property law. Kuen was a founding partner of Aequitas Attorneys in 1998 and is currently the principal of Aequitas Lawyers.

Kuen is very highly regarded in the following areas of legal work:

  • Major commercial and retail property acquisitions and sales.

  • Business and company acquisitions and sales.

  • Retail and commercial leases including acting for shopping centre owners.

  • Conveyancing of residential, commercial and retail properties including as solicitor for property developers.

Ellie Young

Ellie was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2014 after graduating from the University of Technology, Sydney with Juris Doctor in the same year.

Her prior legal experience was gained predominantly in commercial transactions, where she focused on complex simultaneous conveyances of commercial property and licensed businesses, and also planning and development applications concerning the change of use of licensed venues.

Ellie’s current practice predominantly involves the following areas of legal work:

  • Business acquisitions and disposals in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.

  • Retail and commercial leases for tenants in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

  • Conveyancing of residential properties in New South Wales, including off-the-plan apartments.

  • Acquisition and sale of companies.

Lee San Liong

Lee San graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Media (Screen and Sound Production). She was admitted in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2022.

Lee San is fluent in Mandarin. Her combined legal expertise and language skills have proven to be a benefit to many of the clients of Aequitas Lawyers, particularly those Chinese clients whose first language is not English.

Lee San’s current area of practice includes:

  • Conveyancing of residential and commercial properties.

  • Commercial and retail leasing for landlords (including shopping centre owners) and tenants.

  • Leasing and property disputes (including matters dealt with in the New South Wales Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

  • Business acquisitions and sales.

  • Wills and Estates including preparation of Wills and advising executors and administrators in relation to filing of Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration with the Supreme Court of New South Wales for deceased estates.

  • Power of Attorney and Guardianship.

Chi Kie Chiong

Chi Kie graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing).

Chi Kie is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. Her combined legal and language skills have proven to be a benefit to many of the clients of Aequitas Lawyers, particularly those who are more fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Chi Kie assists the other solicitors in the firm in various areas of the law including:

  • Conveyancing of residential and commercial properties.

  • Commercial and retail leasing for landlords (including shopping centre owners) and tenants.

  • Leasing and property disputes (including matters dealt with in the New South Wales Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
