Elaine Lin was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2011 after graduating from the University of Sydney with degrees in Commerce and Law in 2009.
In 2009, Elaine was awarded the prestigious New South Wales Women Justices’ Association Prize for an outstanding research essay on the mandatory dispute resolution requirements in children-related applications under the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth).
Elaine’s current practice includes the following areas of legal work:
- Acting for and advising property developers in relation to the development and sale of off-the-plan residential apartments, commercial offices and retail shops in New South Wales.
- Conveyancing of residential properties.
- Acquisitions and sales of commercial properties.
- Commercial and retail leasing for shopping centre owners, including advising and preparing leases in compliance with the relevant legislation.
- Commercial and retail leasing for tenants, including advising and negotiating the terms of the lease agreements.
- Liquor licensing applications.
- Company and business acquisition and sale.
- Commercial and joint venture agreements.
- Litigation and dispute resolution in relation to commercial and property disputes, including proceedings in Tribunals and the District and Supreme Courts of New South Wales.
- Preparation of loan, security and ancillary documents for project and various types of finance facilities.
- Probate and Letters of Administration for deceased estates.
Elaine is fluent in Mandarin and has extensive experience in translating legal documents from English to Chinese, and vice versa. Her combined legal expertise and language skills have proven to be a benefit to many of the clients of Aequitas Lawyers, particularly those who are undertaking corporate and/or commercial transactions with China or Chinese clients in Australia.
