Maria grad­u­at­ed from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Tech­nol­o­gy, Syd­ney, with a Bach­e­lor of Laws and a Bach­e­lor of Arts in Com­mu­ni­ca­tions, major­ing in Media Arts and Pro­duc­tion. Maria was admit­ted in the Supre­me Court of New South Wales in 2009 and she is also admit­ted in the High Court of Aus­tralia.

 

Maria com­menced her legal career gain­ing expe­ri­ence at a bou­tique crim­i­nal and lit­i­ga­tion law firm, then as a legal intern at the Spe­cial Broad­cast­ing Ser­vice (SBS) assist­ing on defama­tion, media law and intel­lec­tu­al prop­er­ty mat­ters, and also as a grad­u­ate lawyer at a gen­er­al lit­i­ga­tion and con­veyanc­ing prac­tice.

 

Maria went on to prac­tice as a com­mer­cial lit­i­ga­tor for more than four years at a lead­ing Syd­ney law firm, where she spe­cialised in pro­vid­ing advice and solu­tions to a num­ber of large insti­tu­tion­al clients, as well as pri­vate clients, on a vari­ety of lit­i­gat­ed and non-lit­i­gat­ed mat­ters pre­dom­i­nate­ly in the insur­ance and finan­cial ser­vices indus­try.

 

At Aequitas Lawyers, Maria spe­cialis­es in dis­pute res­o­lu­tion and com­mer­cial lit­i­ga­tion. Maria con­tin­ues to prac­tice as an advo­cate for her clients and assists her clients in spot­ting legal risks ear­ly and resolv­ing dis­putes in a time­ly and cost-effec­tive man­ner.

 

Maria is also a nation­al­ly accred­it­ed Medi­a­tor under the Nation­al Medi­a­tor Accred­i­ta­tion Sys­tem (NMAS) and mem­ber of the Res­o­lu­tion Insti­tute. Maria is able to provide medi­a­tion ser­vices to par­tic­i­pants who would like assis­tance from a neu­tral third par­ty in resolv­ing a dis­pute or con­flict.
